About Me

I'm Dana.

I am a first-gen college student who recently graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Science in Informatics (INFO - the intersection between information, people, and technology) and a focus on Human-Computer Interaction.

My journey with technology began with building and programming a LEGO robot as a freshman in a high school computer programming class. I later attended a Running Start program at Bellevue College during my last two years there at Lindbergh High School. At Bellevue, I took the opportunity to explore a variety of courses where I was able to find an interest in Computer Science. I later graduated from LHS and BC in 2019 and planned to attend the UW that year starting in the fall.

During my first quarter at the UW, I remember seeing a flyer promoting a hackathon by an organization called Women in Informatics (WINFO). I decided to sign-up, not knowing a single thing about it, and gave it a shot. Little did I know that this decision was going to shape my whole mindset and future. I've never felt so much joy in creating such an impactful project with others through the hackathon. This experience inspired me to devote and pursue my studies in Informatics.

I applied to the INFO major the following year and was admitted. Shortly after that, I became the Creative Director of the organization that sparked my journey: WINFO. After participating in many INFO-related hackathons and involving myself with the INFO community, I felt at home and something I saw as more than just a career, but a growing passion to help others thrive with technology in whatever way that may be.

Outside of work, I enjoy going outdoors, playing chess, and spending time with my family.
